The Urban League will have funds available beginning June 2nd to support the health and safety of St. Louis City and Wellston residents through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  Applications will be accepted for LIHEAP from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on June 2-5 in the Cardinal Ritter Preparatory School gym for all eligible households during the Urban League’s Community Resource Festival. In addition to applying for LIHEAP, residents can receive free health screenings and learn about our Head Start Preschool Program. The Urban League will not accept applications at the 935 Vandeventer outreach center during this event.

Summer LIHEAP provides assistance with Ameren Bills, ONLY. All applicants for LIHEAP must be in threat of disconnection or disconnected from their Ameren utility service. Beginning June 9, residents can drop off completed applications at our City Outreach Center located at 935 N. Vandeventer, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.   For the fastest service, residents are strongly encouraged to mail in their completed applications to the Urban League, 3701 Grandel Square, St. Louis, MO 63108 or fax it to (314) 531-7462.

Applications are available online:

If you were approved for LIHEAP between October 1, 2013 and April 15, 2014 and have not moved, you do not need to reapply. Simply provide our office with a copy of your most recent Ameren disconnect notice or final bill.

If you need to apply, you will need to provide copies of proof of income and social security cards for all household members along with your most recent Ameren disconnect notice or final bill. For more information, please call (314) 615-3640.

LIHEAP utility assistance is designed to provide emergency funds to help pay heating and cooling bills for residents in St. Louis City and Wellston. Eligibility for LIHEAP is based on income, family size and availability of resources. The Urban League is certified by the Better Business Bureau and a proud member of the United Way.
