Urban League, Saint Louis University Honors Awardees at MLK Tribute

Saint Louis University and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, in partnership with Ameren  hosted its 6th annual memorial tribute honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 12, 2017 in the Wool Ballroom of SLU’s Busch Student Center. Nearly 500 people attended the event which awarded the following individuals and corporations for their contributions to the St. Louis community:  Dr. Kelvin Adams of St. Louis Public Schools, Dr. Elizabeth Stroble, President of Webster University, Gentry W. Trotter, founder of Heat-Up St. Louis, Dr. Eugene Redmond, poet laureate of East St. Louis, Natalie DuBose, owner of Natalie’s Cakes in Ferguson, Halbert Sullivan, founder and CEO of Father’s Support Center, Julio Suarez, senior director of community affairs at Anheuser-Busch, USBank and Dr. Mary Gould, director of SLU’s Prison Program. Special recognitions were also given to the awardees from the Honorable Marlene E. Davis, alderwoman of the 19th Ward, and St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger.
