Financial Literacy

From making a household budget or balancing a checkbook to evaluating life insurance and selecting an investment vehicle to fund a comfortable retirement, people must learn about personal finance in order to be successful managers of their incomes and assets. 

However, mere knowledge of financial matters isn’t enough. The Urban League Financial Literacy Training program is designed to teach participants how to make smart money management decisions.
Participants in the program learn how to:
  • Manage Household Budgets
  • Do Basic Checking and Savings Account Management
  • Understand Credit Reports
  • Improve Negative Credit Ratings
  • Recognize the Signs of Predatory Lending
